The M14 rifle, having been considered virtually obsolete, is now in demand from the military once again. Entering service in the early 1960s, the M14 was an evolution of the M1 Garand used in World War II. Many variants were manufactured – sniper variants, semi-automatic variants, versions carrying different calibers of bullets, etc.

Over the past few years, the military has been selling off excess M14s or loaning them to law enforcement and other government agencies, but now that current weapons are proving insufficient overseas, many soldiers have been acquiring M14s for use there, mostly in a sniper capacity. The primary appeal of the M14 is its impressive range and accuracy. Now, modified M14s are re-entering production.

The new M14, manufactured by SAGE, is dubbed the “MK14 Mod 0”, and is equipped with a variety of new components, including a new, adjustable buttstock, and a new barrel. Following this, SAGE introduced the “CQ Stock”, essentially the same as the Mod 0 but with a M4 slider buttstock system.

The M14 is compatible with a variety of sights, and currently the Army is looking to procure a new rifle sight for the weapon, of the many compatible red dot sights and/or scopes.
