In an environment where life is constantly in jeopardy, one of the most important ways you can protect yourself is with body armor. Body armor comes in different shapes and sizes at different price ranges and strengths – but when it’s your life on the line, only the top-of-the line products will do. Enter DSM Dyneema ®, the world’s strongest fiber (15 times stronger than steel) with the lowest possible weight. Dyneema ® Soft Ballistic can protect against handgun ammo and knives whereas hard ballistic armor can be used to protect against rifle fire and fragments, and is even used on vehicles to protect against IEDs and EFPs.
It is able to withstand multiple shots and maintain performance, and when combined with ceramic strike face, it even has the ability to stop armor piercing rounds. Dyneema® fiber is extremely durable and resistant to aging and UV exposure, as well as moisture resistant and chemically inert, allowing it to maintain performance when exposed to hostile environments (be they dry, wet, salty, humid, or whatever else).
This technology is used to protect hands as well, such as the Uniforce Special Operations Gloves. These gloves provide the highest degree of protection against cuts, while remaining light, comfortable, and flexible.
The low bulk and weight of this fiber technology allows a larger area to be covered without hindering one’s all-too important mobility. Even with increased coverage, the weight will still likely be light enough to allow for more equipment, for example communication and surveillance on one’s helmet.
In addition to personel protection, Dyneema© is also used to protect vehicles, cockpit doors, shields and other assorted equipment.
